Your advert will only get the best people if it appeals to them, so writing it well and placing it in a suitable place has more importance than you might think.

We don’t need to tell you how important interviews are: we’ve all (probably) had them! This part of the process can be a real eye-opener: the most perfect person on paper can turn out to have the personality of a garden fence and a dubious relationship with the truth, while a brushed-off outsider can prove to be your ideal employee. Keep your mind open, and concentrate on the person in front of you.

After the interviews end, it can be tempting to jump straight in with job offers – but there are a few things you need to be careful of before doing anything. Take your time with choosing: follow up with referees and hold second interviews if you’re dithering.
